Milestone

Saturday, January 23rd, 2010

The Toronto Photo Walks group on Facebook now has 100 members! (The Flickr group has 70 members but I assume most are also on Facebook so I’m not claiming a total of 170.)

Welcome to our new members! Be sure to check out the event info for next weekend’s walk – I’ll be adding more detail over this weekend.

Update: The next TOPW outing is to The Beaches on January 30th; details are on this website, on Facebook and Flickr.

Update: The Flickr group hit 100 members on February 6th. (FB=142)

Update: The Facebook group topped 200 members on March 27th.

Update: The Flickr group hit 200 members today (April 28).

2010-09-11: Flickr=289; Facebook=284.

The Beaches, January 30th

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

The clear winner of the poll was The Beaches (or The Beach, if you prefer).

Date: Saturday 30th January 2010
Meet: 10:00am at Pump House Park (look for this building!) [map]
Route: Through Woodbine Park then along Queen Street East, past the fire hall and Kew Gardens
Lunch: Gabby’s, close to the intersection with Hambly Ave
Afternoon: Down to the boardwalk to see Leuty Lifeguard Station, then back up to Queen St, past some interesting builds, all the way to the R.C. Harris Water Treatment Plant
Post-walk bar: Quigley’s (2232 Queen St E @ Beech Ave)

Note: no dogs; please note the lunch and post-walk stops are at bars (i.e. 18+).

If you can’t make the morning, join us for lunch; if you can’t make it until after lunch, we’ll still be walking in the afternoon! (I’ll share my cell phone number with those who sign up.)

Scheduling the next walks

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010

I was very pleased to see such a great turnout for the Spadina walk (over 20 people braved the cold and survived to post their photos!) and as we sat in the bar afterward talk turned to the next walk. I hadn’t created a definitive schedule, especially with the group starting up just before Christmas and New Year, but clearly we need one so I have drafted something based on us walking every three weeks.

So the next photo walk will be on January 30th, followed by February 20th, March 13th but then March 27th because the following weekend is Easter and people may have other plans for the long weekend. As for where, I’m going to post a poll in order to solicit feedback.
