Beaches kite festival, October 2nd

It’s Nuit Blanche in the evening, but there’s a kite festival in the Beaches in the afternoon.

Date: Saturday 2nd October 2010.
Meet: noon at Murphy’s Law, Queen E & Kingston Rd. (Booked under Toronto Photo Walks.)
Route: Wander down to the boardwalk and check out the kite festival!
Hashtag: please use “TOPW:KF”

See you at 12:00 at the pub or about 1:30 on the boardwalk.

Toronto Islands, September 18th

Where: Toronto Ferry Docks, Queen’s Quay West at the foot of Bay Street.

Cyclists – Bikes are welcome on the ferry (it’s safer to lock your bike on the islands IMO).
TTC – Take the 509 Harbourfront or 510 Spadina Streetcar, exit at Bay + Queen’s Quay stop.
By car – Pay parking lots available along Queens Quay.

When: 11am – Centre Island ferry departs 11:30am.

Fare: $6.50 adults, $4 students and seniors (includes return).

Morning - We’ll head east across Olympic Island and explore CentreVille amusement park (in blue), Far Enough Farm (red), the Amazing Maze and St. Andrews by the Lake Church.

Late lunch - (Pink) Pack a bagged lunch to enjoy outdoors in the picnic area, weather permitting.
Rectory Café is also nearby; serving soups, salads, sandwiches, coffee and tea. Fully Licensed.

Afternoon - Walk along the boardwalk to the outer harbour pier (purple), past Manitou Beach to Artscape Gibraltar Point artist retreat and studio space, then over to the lighthouse (orange).

Sunset return ferry - Bring a tripod, you can always leave it in the coin lockers near the docks.

Food and drinks post walk at Scotland Yard Pub, 56 The Esplanade.

It gets chilly on the Islands so remember to dress for the weather =)
