Toronto Photo Walks

The Toronto Urban Photography Festival runs from March 9th to 23rd; Toronto Photo Walks is organising some photo walks for TUPF. [map]

Each walk will be about 1.5 – 2 hours long, and it’s free to participate.

If you’re on Flickr, please share your best shots with the TOPW group and tag them with “TOPW:TUPF” so we can find them.

*Note, especially for the night/sunset shoots:

• Equipment: Tripod, Camera with adjustable ISO, aperture and exposure (or bulb mode). If you have a remote bring it along, if not a pair of black gloves or a sheet of black fabric will do. Those that don’t have tripods are welcome just to show up and shoot with higher ISO and/or faster glass.
• Additional: Dress appropriately for night time temperatures. Read your camera manual so that you understand how to adjust ISO, aperture and shutter for your particular camera (it should be in the section in using your camera in manual mode).

Morning: Saint James Cemetery

Afternoon: Toronto Necropolis & Crematorium and then Allan Gardens

Date: Saturday February 23rd.

Meet: 10:00am at the entrance to the Ferry Docks [map]

We’ll buy tickets ($7 for adults) and catch the next ferry over to Ward’s Island.

Lunch: Rectory Cafe (confirmed)

We could either catch the 5pm ferry or take a detour back onto Algonquin Island to get some sunset shots then catch a later ferry; let me know which you prefer.

Post-walk: Harbour Sports Grille (to be confirmed)

Regular photo walkers will probably remember Cliff mentioning that he’s one of the organisers of the Toronto Urban Photography Festival (TUPF). Well, it’s only a few weeks ago (it runs from March 9th to 23rd) and Toronto Photo Walks is going to be involved in running some photo walks with them.

We’re still in the planning stage but please contact me (Paul) if you’re interested in helping – we might need 1 or 2 walks planned/led, but mostly we’re looking for people who can be paired up with participants and share some aspect of photography (e.g. how to shoot in aperture priority, or sunset shooting).

Provisional dates:
Afternoons of March 10th, 16th, 17th and 23rd
Sunsets – 15th and 22nd.
