The Beaches, January 30th

Posted on January 22, 2010 by Paul Henman

The clear winner of the poll was The Beaches (or The Beach, if you prefer).

Date: Saturday 30th January 2010
Meet: 10:00am at Pump House Park (look for this building!) [map]
Route: Through Woodbine Park then along Queen Street East, past the fire hall and Kew Gardens
Lunch: Gabby’s, close to the intersection with Hambly Ave
Afternoon: Down to the boardwalk to see Leuty Lifeguard Station, then back up to Queen St, past some interesting builds, all the way to the R.C. Harris Water Treatment Plant
Post-walk bar: Quigley’s (2232 Queen St E @ Beech Ave)

Note: no dogs; please note the lunch and post-walk stops are at bars (i.e. 18+).

If you can’t make the morning, join us for lunch; if you can’t make it until after lunch, we’ll still be walking in the afternoon! (I’ll share my cell phone number with those who sign up.)

There’s street parking on Coxwell but there’s also a few Green P parking places nearby; check their site @ http://parking.greenp.com/find-parking/?a=eastern+and+coxwell&x=0&y=0

The Queen/King street cars (#501, 502 or 503) will drop you at Coxwell, or the Coxwell bus (#22) will get you to Queen – either way it’s a short walk down Coxwell to the entrance. As for when we’re at the bar, there’s the Queen streetcar or the #64 bus to Main subway.

MyTTC (http://myttc.ca/) will be able to tell you timings etc.

We’ve got reservations at Gabby’s (2076 Queen St) for about 12:30pm and at Quiggley’s (2232 Queen St) from 5:30pm – both are under “Paul” and “Toronto Photo Walks”.

In case anyone missed it, my cell# is 647-388-5356.

Thanks to everyone who braved the cold – hope you had fun and got some good shots to share with the group.

I’ll try to tag the group photo with as many people as I can (feel free to help/correct me!) to help everyone connect.

The next TOPW outing will be in ~3 weeks (Feb 20th) so put it in your diaries now! 🙂

Thanks to whoever added this event’s info to BlogTO – we were listed in the weekend Radar (http://bit.ly/cPvjpG).

If anyone lost a lens cap in Quiggly’s, I have it; looks like it’s from a Canon zoom lens. Let me know if it’s yours!
