Hair of the Dog, January 1st 2016

Sunday, December 27th, 2015

As is tradition for TOPW, we kick off the year with the Hair of the Dog walk on January 1st.

Meet: 11am on the beach/boardwalk by Sunnyside Pavillion [map]
There’s usually a huge crowd, so we normally break up into smaller groups in order to find spots from which to shoot.

Rumour has it that Georgette, Michael, Mark C and Andrew G are taking part in the 11th annual Toronto Polar Bear Dip and raising money for Habitat for Humanity Greater Toronto Area.

After the dip (about 12:30pm) we’ll head to a bar. (Firkin on the Bay – confirmed)

There’s no walk planned after lunch; we usually sit around and chat for most of the afternoon.

Lakes and Parks Walk, May 16th

Saturday, May 9th, 2015

Date: Saturday, May 16th.

Meet: 9:30am outside the new Metro/Starbucks combo at Lakeshore and Parklawn (take bus 76A from Old Mill or streetcar 501 on Queen St). [Google map / PlotARoute]

Note: since there aren’t any lunch-like places between Mimico Creek and Grenadier Pond, the morning’s portion of the walk is a bit longer than the afternoon’s – so the (slight detour) Cheese Boutique stop will feel like a late lunch for some. If you forget/don’t want to bring your own snack/lunch, the new Metro at Park Lawn has a good selection.

Lunch: (around 1-1:30pm) Cheese Boutique (can take photos – confirmed) or bring your own/pick up something at the morning’s Metro meet point

Post-walk: Mugshot Tavern (confirmed)

Hashtag: “TOPW:LNP”

Walk Leader: Olga (416-709-0545). If you are lost or want to join us at another time during our walk, call/text so we can let you know where we are.

Remember that, although we usually plan walks to run 10am to about 5pm (depending on light), feel free to come and go whenever it fits with your schedule. [FAQ] [About TOPW]

“Hair of the Dog” walk, January 1st 2015

Friday, December 26th, 2014

As per tradition, it’s time for the “Hair of the Dog” walk!

Date: Thursday January 1st 2015.

Meet: 11:30am at Sunnyside Pavilion. [map] Note: Stephanie said there’s a lot of construction near Sunnyside so parking could be a challenge.

Some of our group are taking part in the dip this year, so be sure to come along and support Georgette, Mark and Michael.

Route: The Polar Bear Dip is at noon, then we’ll head over to the Cadillac Lounge (on Queen, just west of Dufferin) for lunch. [To be confirmed]

In past years we have headed over to The Gladstone and sometimes on to The Drake, but we’ll play it by ear and see what the group wants to do.

Hashtag: please use “TOPW:HD5”

**If you’re joining us after the start, call us and we’ll let you know where we are (Paul, 647-388-5356).
