Hyla suggested we check out an exhibition that’s on for the next couple of weeks, and Derek agreed to postpone his walk, so that’s what we’re doing!
Date: Saturday 19th February 2011.
Meet: 10:00am at Dundas West and Roncesvalles – there’s a Starbucks on the south side of the intersection, looks like an old bank [streetview]
Route: Set off SE on Dundas, over the railway lines, then S on Lansdowne. Almost immediately take Shirley Street and follow it to Brock Ave. Turn S on Brock, cut through the McCormick playground, over to Middleton St. From there we’ll zigzag over to Dufferin, along Alma Ave, and down Gladstone Ave to Queen St. [map]
Lunch: The Gladstone at noon. (Confirmed; we’re in the Melody Bar.)
Afternoon: Short walk E on Queen St to the Stephen Bulger Gallery to see The Toronto Show.
Once we’re ready to move on we’ll have to review the rest of the route; I’ve sketched out a 2 – 2.5 hour walk but we can adjust this based on the time (and weather) (and thirst).
The provisional route is: E on Queen St, past CAMH, turning S on Shaw St. Just after King St we’ll go E on Douro St. Head south on Strachan Ave all the way to the Princes’ Gate then follow Manitoba Drive west, cut through the GO station and emerge on Atlantic Ave. Walk north to Liberty St, east to Hanna Ave to the pub.
Post-walk: The Brazen Head from 5pm onwards. (Confirmed.)
