Saturday (Nov10) evening is TOPW’s 3rd Anniversary party [details], and Sunday is Remembrance Day, so I’ve planned an afternoon-only photo walk which takes in many memorial sites in the downtown core.
Date: Saturday November 10th, and again on Sunday 11th.
Meet: 12:00pm (noon) for lunch at the Artful Dodger, or about 1:30pm when the walkers will set off. [map]
Afternoon: South through Norman Jewison Parkette; west on Gloucester St; across Yonge St; west on Irwin Ave; across Bay St; west through UofT campus; south on Queens Park Crescent to St Joseph St; west across Queen’s Park then down to the SW corner, where you should be able to see the Canadian Volunteer Monument. South beside Queens Park Crescent, to the land at the front of the building, where you’ll find the Ontario Veterans Memorial. East across the park to the Northwest Rebellion Monument. Across Queens Park Crescent to Grosvenor St; there’s a park just on the north side of the street which contains the Ontario Police Memorial. South on Surrey then Elizabeth St; west on College St; the Fallen Fire Fighters Memorial is on the NE corner of the intersection with Queens Park Crescent. Continue west on College; south on McCaul St; east on Elm St. North on University; east on Gerrard all the way past Yonge St; south through Kerr Hall (Ryerson) – you should exit on to Gould St. South on Bond St; across Dundas; east on Shuter; north on Yonge St.
