Two things of note:
(1) this walk is an out-of-town walk, so check your travel times
(2) the special “TOPW-350 lens cloths” have arrived in time for our 350th walk (on July 18). If you’re interested, they are $5 each; I’ll bring them with me on this walk and the 350th, so stop me and buy one!
Date: Saturday, July 4th.
Because this is an out-of-town walk, there’s no time for a pre-walk coffee meetup. Instead, we’ll meet at West Harbour GO Station.
We’re assuming most people will arrive by GO train – the 9:04 departure from Union Station arrives at West Harbour at 10:16am.
Walk: 10:20am start. The first points of interest are the Old Customs House on Stuart St (just to the west of the station), and the old railway station (east of James Street), then we’ll head south on James St. There’s Synonym Café for those who weren’t pre-caffeinated or need a second fix. The route continues along James Steet to Highway 8, where we’ll find Gore Park which contains statues and a war memorial. We’ll then head north, back up James Street until we reach our lunch spot, probably around 12:45pm.
Lunch: Saltlick Smokehouse, 282 James Street North
It’s about a 5 minute walk to the station; GO trains back to Union depart West Harbour station hourly, at 24 minutes past the hour.Hashtag: 2026TOPWrs (our Flickr group is https://www.flickr.com/groups/torontophotowalks/)
