Twitter account is down

November 21st, 2019

I made the mistake of changing the birthday for the TOPW twitter account to match the formation of the group (November 2009) and Twitter immediately locked the account because that means the account is “under age”!

I’ve started the process to get it unlocked, but there’s no hint as to how long this might take. It would have been nice if there’d been a warning but I guess that would mean kids might lie about their DoB … oh yeah, I guess they do that already. 🙂

Keele to Ossington, November 23rd

November 19th, 2019

Thanks to Dom and Jeff for planning & leading this walk.

Meet at the Tim Hortons on the NE corner of Bloor and Indian Grove (1728 Bloor Street West). Heading out to walk about 10:00am.

We’ll walk eastward along the alley between the Bloor Street stores and the subway track, to Dundas Street West, down to Bloor Street, east to the West Toronto Railpath, over to Sterling Road, dropping into the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), south to Dundas Street, east to Ossington Avenue. Some of the route may be on minor side streets and alleyways.

Lunch: The Lakeview Restaurant, 1132 Dundas Street West (near the northeast corner of Dundas and Ossington), for about 12:30/1:00pm.

Afternoon: Photo walkers can continue along Dundas Street until they are completely exhausted, their memory cards are full, or both.

Happy 10th Anniversary!

November 16th, 2019

Thank you to everyone who has participated in our photowalks over the past 10 years, especially to those who have organised and led walks.

It’s hard to believe TOPW has been going for so long – we’ve grown from nine people on the first walk to almost 3,000 members. (It’s a good thing everyone doesn’t show up at the same time!)

There are a couple of scheduled walks before the end of the year (and we might squeeze in an off-schedule walk too) then we’ll start 2020 with the Hair Of The Dog walk, as usual.

Hopefully those of you who have been on a walk will consider planning one (or helping someone who has already planned one with organising a new one) because that will help us continue for years to come.

Happy 10th Anniversary, TOPW!

TOPW 10th Anniversary, November 9th

October 27th, 2019

To mark TOPW’s 10th Anniversary we’re getting together at The Wallace (Yonge & Davisville) on Saturday November 9th. Jeff is organising an afternoon walk that will end at the pub.

Walk starts at 2:00pm at Starbucks, 3050 Yonge Street, on the southwest corner of Yonge and Lawrence.
We’ll walk south from Lawrence through parkland just to the east of Yonge Street, spend some time in Alexander Muir Memorial Gardens, and then back onto Yonge Street. There are storefronts, construction sites, graffiti, and views of the subway line on the route down to our party destination.
End Location: The Wallace Gastropub, 1954 Yonge Street
Walk Leader: Jeff Stewart
Mobile Phone: 416-423-2910

Party/Dinner Location: The Wallace Gastropub, 1954 Yonge Street (on the west side, just north of Davisville).
We have their upstairs room booked from 5pm onwards.
