Tommy Thompson Park, July 15th

Tuesday, July 11th, 2017

Thanks to Brad for organising & leading the next scheduled photowalk:

Meet: 10:00 AM Gate at Tommy Thompson Park

Route: We will walk along the lake side and take the side trails to the tip of the park. We will have lunch at the tip. We will return on the Toronto side and take the side trails back to front gate.

Lunch: There is nothing in the park so you will need to pack a lunch and extra water.

Bring your macro lens for close up shooting of bugs and plants. Bring your long lens for wildlife photos.

Post Walk: We will see how many are left and discuss a spot to meet up on Queen St.

Don River Trail, July 8th

Thursday, July 6th, 2017

Geoff Leat suggested this walk as so many people were busy with Canada Day celebrations last weekend:

Meet: 10:00 am at Broadview Espresso, the coffee shop one light north of Broadview Station.
(If anyone wants an early breakfast, there’s the New Yorker south of Danforth)

Bring water and sun protection.

I can lead the back way into the trail that goes south down to the lakefront base of Bayview below King.
We will cross Gerrard, Dundas and Queen. Also we will be close to the Market and Queens Quay.
This makes for a great deal of flexibility for the group to vary the direction.

Lunch is where ever we choose and the afternoon as well.

Hamilton, June 3rd

Sunday, May 28th, 2017

Jerome is leading our next walk which will be in Hamilton. We’ll use a similar route to the one we followed last time but with a shorter version of the afternoon section.

Date: Saturday June 3rd.

Meet: 10:15am at Hamilton GO station timed to coincide with the arrival of the GO Bus from Aldershot Station. People coming from Toronto via GO need to catch the 8:43 train from Union Station, then transfer to a bus at Aldershot Station for a short trip into Hamilton. For those of you driving, there are several parking lots within a short walking distance of the Hamilton GO station; Google Maps is your friend! Alternatively, you can park at the Aldershot GO station for free, and get a day pass to Hamilton and back; this saves you the agony of negotiating downtown Hamilton’s many one-way streets!

GO Transit travel options: Google; GO Transit.

[map]
The morning route stays close to the GO station for you latecomers! 😉 The lunch stop is also close to the station for anyone who is joining us for only the morning or afternoon routes.

Lunch: Cat ‘n’ Fiddle (to be confirmed)
174 John Street,
905.525.3855
12:30

Post-walk: Augusta’s Winking Judge (to be confirmed)
25 Augusta Street,
905.524.5626
5:00
The pub is about a two minute walk from the GO station.

Riverdale, May 20th

Saturday, May 13th, 2017

Even though I planned this walk, hopefully we’ll have good weather for it 🙂

Meet: 10:00 am at the Tim Hortons at Gerrard and Blackburn (547 Gerrard St East) – yes, the same place we met to start the Focus on Gerrard walk.

Morning route: Head north beside Bridgepoint then across the Don and over to Riverdale Farm. How long we have at the farm depends on our pace. From there we’ll go south on Sumach to Spruce, then over to Parliament. [map]

Lunch: Stout Irish Pub, 221 Carlton (confirmed)

Afternoon: I’ve sketched a route zigzagging up to the Bishop & Belcher, just across from Bloor-Yonge station, but we can improvise.
