Worldwide Photo Walk, October 13

Sunday, September 30th, 2012

The 5th Annual Scott Kelby Worldwide Photo Walk is on October 13th, which coincides with our regular schedule.

Walks are capped at 50 people but there are few walks in Toronto:

  1. **Waterfront and downtown – led by Paul; note: full so please join another walk
  2. **The Annex, Casa Loma and Forest Hill – led by Phil
  3. Downtown (morning)
  4. Mt. Pleasant Cemetery (morning)
  5. The Beaches (evening)

**Note: only the walks led by Paul & Phil will count as official TOPW walks; the others aren’t led by TOPW members.

I am not posting walk details here – if you are signed up for a walk, you’ll find the details there; if you are not signed up (via the WWPW website) then please do NOT join a walk – the attendance list is managed via their website and some walks are full or close to capacity.

Just for WWPW there is an extra tag (WWPW2012) and a Flickr group for all the Toronto-based WWPW events.

If you missed the previous WWPW, in 2010 we did the Brickworks and Todmorden Mill, and last year we did Summerhill & Yorkville.

Coming soon

Saturday, August 4th, 2012

I tend to only plan photo walks “just in time” but here are a few things on the horizon:

  • August 19th is World Photo Day (not to be confused with the Worldwide Photo Walk – see below) and happens to coincide with our next scheduled photo walk weekend. Thanks to Vicki for planning the walk; [details].
  • I ran a poll recently to see if people were interested in shooting at the CNE again, and the resounding vote was in favour of going. It runs from August 17 to September 3, which spans two scheduled walk weekends, so I’ve pencilled in the September 1+2 walks as that should also include the air show. [details]
  • The 5th Annual Scott Kelby Worldwide Photo Walk is going to be in October.
Update: The first walk is full (and there’s a growing waiting list) but Phil’s set up a second walk [details].
More info in the WWPW blog post.

  • Also in October: I’ve been talking with John Carvalho about a joint photo walk with the Mississauga Flickr group; it’ll probably include High Park.
Update: It’ll be on October 27th; details.

  • TOPW’s 3nd Anniversary party will be in early November; our first was at Duggan’s Brewery (RIP) and last year‘s was at the Three Brewers.
    Update: [details]

Worldwide Photo Walk (WWPW), October 1st

Tuesday, September 27th, 2011

The October 1st walk is in conjunction with Scott Kelby’s 4th annual Worldwide Photo Walk (#WWPW).

The walk details are on the WWPW website; I’ll be confirming the details (and sending out an email) shortly.

Please note: the walk is capped at 50 people and we hit that a while ago, so please don’t join up – the waiting list already has over a dozen people on it! Instead, there’s a walk in the Beach(es) or maybe look further afield.

Toronto Photo Walks meets the Worldwide Photo Walk

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

The 3rd Annual Scott Kelby Worldwide Photo Walk is scheduled for July 24th, which coincides with the TOPW schedule, so I’m leading one of the WWPW groups. I’ve picked the Don Valley brick works as the general area for the walk, but I’ll be adding more details nearer the day.

The WWPW events are capped at 50 people, so please sign up on the official Worldwide Photo Walk site @ http://worldwidephotowalk.com/walk/toronto-on-canada-don-valley-brickworks-todmorden

I could really use some help planning the route, and also on the day (a couple of additional wranglers) – please let me know if you can help!

Date: Saturday 24th July 2010.

Meet: 10:00am at Castle Frank Station

Route (morning): Castle Frank to the Brickworks via the Milkman’s Run; break into a couple of smaller groups for a guided tour of the farmers’ market; explore the paths and ponds just N of the market.

Lunch: Pick something up at the farmers’ market or bring lunch with you!

Route (afternoon): Regroup at 12:30pm; exit the Brickworks, taking Bayview and Pottery Rd to Todmorden Mills. After exploring Todmorden, back along Pottery Rd briefly then N on the path that runs along by the Don River. At Beechwood Drive, cross the DVP and wend our merry way to Broadview & Mortimer.
