Brad is leading a Flash Photography Workshop in Graffiti Alley:
This photo walk we are going to do a workshop on using flash with your camera. We are going to shoot in Graffiti Alley around Spadina and Queen. (If you don’t have a flash, you can use your camera’s built-in flash or just go ahead and shoot the Alley.)
We are meeting up at Aroma Espresso Bar at 535 Queen St West
We will meet for 9:30 am and have a coffee and start the workshop at 10:00 am.
You find me in the alley because I need to do some set up work. You will need to bring your flash if you have one for your camera. And mount to use off-camera and also any triggers you use.
We will take turns being models.During the workshop we are going to learn the following flash techniques:
- The camera flash sync speed (Look this up for your camera)
- On-camera flash using TTL and flash compensation
- On-camera flash with a modifier
- On camera flash in manual mode
- How to use a ND filter with a flash
- On-camera flash using high speed sync
Demonstration of off-camera flash doing the following shooting
- Off-camera TTL Flash and high-speed sync
- Off-camera manual flash
- Off-camera flash a with a modifier
- Using a grid on the flash
I will have a couple of manual flashes that will fit some cameras.
My flashes and triggers are for Sony and can be shared.
I use Godox flashes and triggers so if you have a Godox transmitter you can use my flashes. We can stop for a coffee break after 2 hours.
After the 3 to 4-hour workshop, we will walk down to the Firkin on King, 461 King St West (unconfirmed) 416-979-5464If the weather is calling for rain, we will still meet up and do a leaderless walk through Queen West and do the workshop on the next walk weather permitting.
I am parking at the GreenP lot and returning my equipment to my car before the pub. Anyone bringing their equipment can do the same.
