Davisville, August 11th

Monday, August 6th, 2018

Since no one else jumped at the opportunity to lead this, you’re going to have to put up with me again!

Meet Starbucks at Davisville subway station at 10 a.m., NE corner of Yonge & Davisville.

We’ll check out small sculpture garden on Davisville, then Balliol & Playfair Cres to Mt. Pleasant cemetery. Through the cemetery to the ravine and walk south at least as far as railway tracks at Summerhill. That’s the start anyhow.

Flash Photography Workshop, July 14th

Sunday, July 8th, 2018

Brad is leading a Flash Photography Workshop in Graffiti Alley:

This photo walk we are going to do a workshop on using flash with your camera. We are going to shoot in Graffiti Alley around Spadina and Queen. (If you don’t have a flash, you can use your camera’s built-in flash or just go ahead and shoot the Alley.)

We are meeting up at Aroma Espresso Bar at 535 Queen St West
We will meet for 9:30 am and have a coffee and start the workshop at 10:00 am.
You find me in the alley because I need to do some set up work.

You will need to bring your flash if you have one for your camera. And mount to use off-camera and also any triggers you use.
We will take turns being models.

During the workshop we are going to learn the following flash techniques:

  • The camera flash sync speed (Look this up for your camera)
  • On-camera flash using TTL and flash compensation
  • On-camera flash with a modifier
  • On camera flash in manual mode
  • How to use a ND filter with a flash
  • On-camera flash using high speed sync

Demonstration of off-camera flash doing the following shooting

  • Off-camera TTL Flash and high-speed sync
  • Off-camera manual flash
  • Off-camera flash a with a modifier
  • Using a grid on the flash

I will have a couple of manual flashes that will fit some cameras.

My flashes and triggers are for Sony and can be shared.
I use Godox flashes and triggers so if you have a Godox transmitter you can use my flashes.

We can stop for a coffee break after 2 hours.
After the 3 to 4-hour workshop, we will walk down to the Firkin on King, 461 King St West (unconfirmed) 416-979-5464

If the weather is calling for rain, we will still meet up and do a leaderless walk through Queen West and do the workshop on the next walk weather permitting.

I am parking at the GreenP lot and returning my equipment to my car before the pub. Anyone bringing their equipment can do the same.

Unofficial Leaderless Walk, July 7 2018

Wednesday, July 4th, 2018

It’s another week (and a bit) until the next scheduled walk, so Brad’s organised an off-schedule one for this weekend!

10:00 AM – We will meet at Aroma Espresso Bar, 500 Bloor Street West

We will meet and have a coffee at 10:00 AM

It’s a “Leaderless Walk” so we will decide where the walk will take us and stop along the way for a lunch break at a pub.
