Bloor and Parliament, May 11th

Monday, May 6th, 2019

Michael Ishlove is leading the next photowalk:

Meet at the Tim Hortons at Bloor & Bedford (close to St. George subway station) at 10:00 am

The plan is to walk along Bloor to Avenue Road; around the Church of the Redeemer; continue east to Park Road; north to Church Street, east on Asquith Ave then south on St. Paul’s Square. Through the Manulife Garden – their garden can be quite nice, maybe even this early in the season.

Continuing east on Bloor to Sherbourne; south to Howard St; east to Parliament; head into St. James Cemetery and take a walk through some of the sections. After St. James, head to Cabbagetown and find somewhere for lunch – group decision.

Afternoon… walkers choice.

Cabbagetown Tour, March 10

Sunday, March 4th, 2018

Brad is leading another walk:

We are going to tour Cabbagetown where some of the first Irish settlers lived in Toronto. (St Patrick’s Day is the following Saturday.)

I found this website with a list of famous people who have plaques at the addresses they lived.

I will make a route for us to follow to see and read the plaques and tour Cabbagetown.

Meet up: 10:00AM at the Rooster Coffee House 568 Jarvis St

Sticking to our Irish theme we will go to an Irish Pub.
Stout Irish Pub, 221 Carlton St (unconfirmed)

After walk we will see how many are left and our location and find a pub.

Toronto Necropolis & Riverdale Farm, March 5th

Monday, February 28th, 2011

The runaway winner in the latest poll was Toronto Necropolis & Riverdale Farm, so we’re off the see animals and headstones! Incidentally, this was the very first “official” TOPW walk, back in November 2009 [details].

Date: Saturday 5th March 2011.
Meet: 10:00am at the entrance to the farm at 201 Winchester Street [map]
Route: Wander around the farm, and then wander around the Necropolis. (I like these simple walks!)
Note: the farm is going to be muddy, so be prepared!
About 5pm we’ll heard down Sumach, River, Shuter then Sumach again to reach Queen St.
Lunch: At the farm – they have a small kitchen.
Post-walk: The Dominion on Queen (To be confirmed)
Hashtag: please use “TOPW:NR”
